Winter Intersession Classes 2018
Get ahead in your program of study by enrolling in Winter Intersession courses. These are fully online 4 week intensive courses that run between December 10, 2018 and January 5, 2019.
The following online courses will be offered during the Intersession:

- PSP 5843 – Mindful Approaches to Performance A, 1 Unit
- PSY 5001 – Information Literacy, 2 Units
- LIB 3146 – Information Literacy, 2 Units
- PSY 5002 – Academic Writing, 3 Units
- PSY 5003 – Critical Thinking and Writing, 3 Units
- PYC 3307 – Careers in Psychology, 2 Units

Winter Intersession registration opens on Monday October 29 (priority) and Tuesday October 30, 2018.

Fall 2018 Student Writing Contest – Gratitude
The Office of Student Experience is excited to announce the Fall Quarter 2018 Student Writing Contest. The contest opens on Thursday, November 1, 2018, and closes on Monday, November 26, 2018, at Midnight PST. Prizes will be awarded in two categories, undergraduate and graduate students. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
Practicum Agency Fair
MA Counseling Psychology students, are you looking for a practicum site? Come meet representatives from agencies and learn about practicum opportunities at the Agency Fair for practicum sites. A fair will be held in Pleasant Hill on December 7, 2018 from 12-2 pm. For south counties, a fair will be held at the San Jose Campus on December 6, 2018 between 1 and 3 pm. LGBTQ+ Round Table
There will be a LGBTQ+ Round Table to foster a sense of community on campus and discuss issues we are facing. This Round Table is for JFKU staff, faculty and students who self-identify as LGBTQ+. It will be held on November 13, from 3:30-5:00, on the Pleasant Hill Campus, in room S115. For more information or if you have questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.

Strategies for Students for Coping with Anxiety and Holiday Stress
As we come into the Holiday season and with finals just around the corner, we have a few ideas on reducing stress.

Writing Center Workshop
APA Style Basics ‑ Tuesday, November 13, 2018, 5:30 – 6:30 pm, Room S202, Office of Student Experience at the Pleasant Hill campus or via this ZOOM link.
We will discuss strategies for avoiding plagiarism and using APA style with confidence and purpose.
Follow My Lead - Alumni/Community Referral Scholarship Do you love your program, faculty and friends at JFKU? Refer a friend to one of JFKU’s degree programs and they will receive a scholarship upon enrolling.

JFKU Museum Studies Alumna speaks at UC Berkeley campus
Soledad Edmondson, recent graduate from JFKU’s MA Museum Studies program (class of 2018) was a guest speaker at UC Berkeley’s Ethnic Studies Department this past October 10th. Soledad lectured students about her Master’s thesis work on Native American rights as they relate to burials, museums, and the Native American Grave Protection and Repatriation Act, NAGPRA. Soledad will be presenting two additional lectures in Berkeley on October 26 and 29.
Joyce Young will Read Her Poetry in San Francisco and Berkeley
As part of an ongoing series of readings of her new book, JFKU’s Writing Consultant Joyce Young will read at Nomadic Press Oakland First Fridays, 2301 Telegraph Avenue, on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 7:00 pm, with Kim Shuck, Poet Laureate of San Francisco, at Adobe Books, 3130 24th Street, San Francisco, CA 94110 on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 4:00 pm.
Joyce will also be featured at Poetry Express on Monday, November 19, 2018, at 7:00 pm, at Himalayan Flavors Restaurant, 1585 University Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94703
