Dr. Alvin McLean, Associate Dean of the College of Psychology, has just been promoted to Dean of the College. With an extensive background as a practitioner, professor, and researcher in various areas of clinical and neuropsychology, Dr. McLean also brings his business acumen, entrepreneurial drive, and leadership skills to the role.
As a professor in the PsyD program at JFKU, Dr. McLean has taught various courses including Cognitive and Intellectual Assessment, Fundamentals of Integrated Healthcare, and Inter-professional Education and Practice. In addition to teaching in the program, Dr. McLean also possesses a critical awareness of the field of psychology and has been active in promoting programming at JFKU that reflects current trends. He is a passionate advocate for the emerging area of Integrated Healthcare and has worked to foster a unique cross-discipline practicum experience for JFKU students pursuing this concentration. In his role as Associate Dean, Dr. McLean has also been integral in launching a brand new master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.

In addition to teaching and publishing widely in his areas of academic expertise, Dr. McLean has leveraged his business and leadership skills to expand his work beyond academia and to design and implement a successful residential treatment program for people with traumatic brain injury.
With his wisdom, charisma, and diverse range of experience, Dr. McLean promises a bright future to the College of Psychology at JFKU. Congratulations Dr. McLean!
