In light of the horrific tragedy at Oakland’s ???Ghost Ship??? Warehouse this weekend John F. Kennedy University’s Community Counseling Centers are offering to provide low or no-cost counseling for anyone affected.
“Our thoughts are with the parents, families, and friends of those who lost loved ones in the Ghost Ship fire. We are deeply saddened by the heartbreak of losing so many young lives, who had come together to celebrate friendship at what ought to have been a night filled with laughter and music. Their potential creativity, which was cut short, will be missed,” shared Gail Kingsley-Dame, Executive Director, JFK University Community Counseling Centers. “Our Centers’ counselors wish to offer a place of comfort and solace to anyone who might need someone with whom to talk, including our brave first responders. Our three JFK University Community Centers are inextricably woven into the diverse fabric of the Oakland and surrounding Bay Area communities. Let us give back to a vibrant community, which has been our home for so many years.”
Counseling services at the centers are offered by advanced graduate students in the school’s Counseling Psychology programs provide the counseling. All counselors work under the supervision of licensed, professional psychotherapists.
