Spero teaches museum studies courses on visitor engagement, and museums and interactive technology, and also guides students through their internship process. She has over 30 years of experience developing and analyzing museum educational experiences at Museums throughout the Bay Area, and frequently presents at museum conferences such as the American Alliance of Museums, the California Association of Museums and Western Museums Association. She serves on the board of the Museum Education Roundtable that publishes The Journal of Museum Education. Throughout her career she has cultivated students and emerging professionals, encouraging them to develop agency to make change.
