Melanie was hired in 2010 as a member of the core Faculty and External Field Placement Coordinator at JFK University’s Counseling Psychology program. As a professor she teaches Group Process, Human Sexuality, Family Life Cycle, Clinical Case Seminar and Self Care of the Therapist.

As External Field Coordinator, she builds and strengthens relationships with the variety of CBO’s and counties to ensure that each of the students receive the quality supervision and experience they deserve. Since 2000 Melanie has been providing both the 15 hour and 6 hour mandated Clinical Supervision course for supervisors throughout the state. In her training capacity she has established strong working relationship with more than three-quarters of the supervisors that provide clinical supervision to our students. This collaboration ensures that each of the students receive the quality supervision and experience they deserve as trainees.

In addition to her work with JFKU she provides training and consultation throughout the state in areas of Intercultural Awareness, Stress Management, and Team building, using the True Colors technology to strengthen communication and increasing collaboration within systems.

In addition Melanie has had a private practice in Santa Cruz since 1996 specializing in working with individuals, couples, children and cross cultural dimensions. Melanie combines her clinical skills, her love of teaching, curiosity and enthusiasm for the work to create learning environments for others to discover and affirm their own unique strengths and gifts.
