About

I have a BA and an MA in English from VA Tech, the coursework for a PhD in Educational Media and Computers from Arizona State University with an emphasis on special education and adult learners and am currently enrolled as a doctoral student studying Learning Analytics in Higher Education, which I hope to use to develop courses that support student success and achievement. I have been teaching for more than twenty years and have taught everything from English, to math, to Computers, to Accounting. I have worked as a college administrator in positions like Dean, Director of Academic Support, and General Education Department Chair. In addition, I have a strong background in instructional and curriculum development and online education. But my first love is, and has always been, working with students.

I live in southeastern Virginia, near VA Beach. Although I’ve moved around a bit I’m a VA girl at heart. The only part of VA I haven’t lived in is the central part of the state but as global warming continues to cause the waters to rise, I anticipate a move — by truck or boat — to Richmond at some point. In my house the four-legged family members out number the two legged by a good margin but I’m hoping to get some chickens to swing that balance back to the two-legged. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with animals (obviously), reading, playing the piano, cooking enormous and elaborate meals for friends and family, and spending time in my husband’s beautifully landscaped yard. (He’s a bit proprietary on that score.)

I look forward to working with you sometime soon and I hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as I will!
