You are invited to take an active part in a unique study observing how community-based, narrative reflexive research methods can impact the cultivation of knowledge in the field of mental health. The study will take place over 1 day, and you as the participant, will help to steer how the formed group will explore the proposed research question.

Date – Jan 11th, 2018

Time – 8:30 – 4pm

*Breakfast, refreshments, and snacks will be served. Please bring your own lunch.

In order to take part, you must be a member of the JFKU community (staff, faculty, alumni, student, and/or adult community member). The study will be scheduled like a 1-day reflective and experiential workshop. You must be willing and able to share personally about how you encounter Holistic Mental Health in your own history and in your community. You must be able to respectfully participate in a reflexive and analytical process stemming from the stories that the group shares. The goal is to form a diverse group of people in terms of cultural experiences.

Our day will start with an orientation of informed consent, and group guidelines that will outline this process.

If you are interested in participating, please click here for the pre-screening questions.

After you fill out the form I will be in touch via email to let you know your participation status.

If you have any questions about the study, please feel free to email me at any time.

If you are accepted into the study, you can withdraw your participation at any time. Also, your participation in this study has no bearing on any class or position at the university. There is little risk to taking part in this study – as you will be asked to share a personal story related to Holistic Mental Health.

We will be focusing on the presence of health, which minimizes the vulnerability of the sharing. You will also hear stories from others. The benefit of the experience is partaking in a process that you will learn about yourself and your community. In addition, we will reflect upon what the Holistic Mental Health means. This will hopefully increase the appreciation of Holistic Mental Health, and encourage its integration into our own personal lives. We will hone the strengths of our group to consider learning for the field of mental health. After the study is over, you will have the option to participate in writing for publication and/or conference presentations.

For your participation, you will be gifted a $25 Amazon gift card.

Thank you for your kind attention.
