If you’re feeling like APA style is your mortal enemy, this workshop will make it feel like a helpful friend. Participants will learn and discuss strategies for avoiding plagiarism and using APA style with confidence and purpose.

This will be an interactive, practical workshop focused on two major aspects of APA style—in-text citations and the references page. Students who are new to APA or who feel the need to strengthen or update their knowledge will benefit from going over the basics of these two key areas.

“Although APA has a lot of ins and outs, understanding some of its basic features will allow you to handle most situations with confidence, says Joyce Young, academic support specialist and facilitator of the workshop. “It’s not about memorizing everything,” continues Young, “it’s about getting a foundation so you will feel less lost and more in control.”

Join us if you learned APA in the past but are feeling rusty, if you learned it under an earlier version and need to update your knowledge, if you are coming from a program that used a different style system such as MLA, if you have been getting feedback from your instructors that you’re not doing it right, or if you just feel like a refresher!

The workshop is open to all JFKU students and participants are welcome to join in person or remotely via Zoom. See you there!
