Steven Del Chiaro, PsyD

Associate Professor College of Psychology

Dr. Steve Del Chiaro joined JFK University in 2008 as Program Chair for the BA Psychology Program at the Campbell/San Jose Campus. He teaches a myriad of psychology courses, and currently teaches Abnormal Psychology, Psychology of Learning and Senior Capstone and is currently the liaison between the University and the Western Psychological Association.

Prior to joining JFK University, Dr. Del Chiaro held various roles at several institutions of higher education. He began his undergraduate career at San Diego State University majoring in Psychology and working as a Resident Advisor and then a Residence Hall Director. He earned his Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology at Loras College in Iowa and worked as a Residence Hall Director, as well as working with the Counseling Center, Career Center, Student Activities Board, and Admissions office. He has a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco, and has worked as an educator, therapist, career counselor, and executive coach.

Dr. Del Chiaro has also been a faculty member at San Jose State University for 10 years and has taught a variety of courses including Human Learning, Sport Psychology, Opportunities In Psychology, and Positive Psychology.

His research areas have taken him on fantastic voyages to South America using behavioral principles in executive training. Dr. Del Chiaro is currently researching the topics of animal assisted therapy as well as couples communication patterns during trauma.
