Ms. Melanie Stern, LCSW

Counseling Psychology

Melanie was hired in 2010 as a member of the core Faculty and External Field Placement Coordinator at JFK University's Counseling Psychology program. As a member of the faculty, she is presently teaching Group Theory and Practice, Specific Theories of Change. As External Field Coordinator, she builds and strengthens relationships with the variety of CBO's and counties to ensure that each of the students receive the quality supervision and experience they deserve.

In addition to her work with JFK University, she provides training and consultation throughout the state in areas of Clinical Supervision, Management & Supervision, Teambuilding, Intercultural Awareness, Stress Management, and Strategic Planning. For twelve years she was Program Manager/Clinical Supervisor at Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance a dedicated non-profit to the Pajaro Unified School District where she developed and managed programs serving young people and their families.

She has a private practice in Santa Cruz specializing in working with individuals, couples, children and cross cultural dimensions. Melanie combines her clinical skills, her love of teaching, curiosity and enthusiasm for the work to create learning environments for others to discover and affirm their own unique strengths and gifts.
