CNS5826 Healing the Human-Animal Relationship

Course Description

This course looks at animals in the human context and humans in the animal context. We examine animal minds and hearts; question who we are as animals; re-think our own socially constructed hegemonic identity; and consider how we can best live in partnership with our natural kin. By exploring the meanings humans bring to bear on animals—as symbols, tools, co-therapists, companions, and commodities—we learn how human-animal interactions affect them, us, and the planet we share. Online course.
