CNS5212 Psychology of Dreams

Course Description

This course examines Western psychological traditions of dream interpretation.  The pioneering work of Sigmund Freud and Cal Jung, both of whom were directly inspired by their own dream experiences, will be explored, along with later research on the role of dreaming in human development, creativity, and healing.  Students will be encouraged to think critically about these psychological theories, to test them in connection with their own dreams, and to seek new creative integrations with the dream theories of other cultures and traditions.
