John F. Kennedy University has established the Health Education Program (HEP) in partnership with the Community Counseling Centers. Through this program, community members have access to low-cost health and wellness services, including:
- Educational workshops
- Health and wellness coaching
- Nutritional consultations
Under supervision, students working toward a master’s degree in health education will provide these services either in-person at one of the Centers, or via phone or online (Skype). Students are able to practice their learnings, earn credits, and serve the community. This invaluable real-world experience allows students to really develop the skills needed for a career post-graduation.
John F. Kennedy University has a long tradition of community service and service learning, including an Institutional Learning Outcome requiring service to the community. This partnership allows the Centers to fulfill their mission to broaden their services offered to their respective communities, and provide additional service learning opportunities to students.
