Education Programs

TEACH. Open a mind. Touch a heart. Shape the future.

Welcome to the Education programs at JFK University! Our programs are designed to provide future teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to cultivate compassion and a love for learning in their students. We believe that a healthy and peaceful world requires classrooms and schools in which diverse student opinions and feelings are respected, and in which knowledge is discovered, transferred, exchanged and explored within a global context. Students receive a strong foundation in educational theory, multicultural education, and leadership development.

Urban Teacher Scholarships Available: We are pleased to offer $7,500 scholarships for students who have experience in urban settings and plan to teach in an urban school. Scholarship recipients receive tuition assistance to be used during the student teaching portion of their training. We encourage applications from students in ethnic groups traditionally under-represented in K-12 teaching. For a scholarship application, click here.

Starting in June 2008: Special cohort program, limited to 20 students, that can have you working as a credentialed teacher in Fall 2009. Learn more at the Open House on Tuesday, April 8 at 6:30 pm at our Pleasant Hill Campus at 100 Ellinwood Way. To RSVP, click here.

The relationships that are created at JFK are ones that will last a lifetime, but most importantly JFK enters student learners into their program and exit graduates that are educators for life!

The faculty at JFKU's Department of Education is willing and eager to go beyond surface requirements and ask deeper questions. This depth, in addition to the personal attention provided, is why the program at JFKU is so attractive.

JFKU's education program prepared me for teaching by giving theoretical basis and practical knowledge for a career in education. The instructors provided insight into "today's classrooms".
