Explore various theories of psychotherapy and constructs of personality development and compare these approaches, their assumptions about human nature, and their therapeutic implications. Adulthood (PYC 3105)

Examine the psychology of adulthood, including individual development, sexuality, marriage, family life, career choices, mind/body interactions, and peak experiences.

Explores various dimensions of the learning process, including the influence of prior learning experiences; the social construction of knowledge; the impact of culture, class, race, age, and gender on our educational experiences; and the possibilities for developing, stimulating, and fulfilling learning practices. Provides new students with a survey of the BA program—its vision, objectives, requirements, and interdisciplinary content—and offers guidance in choosing a major and formulating a study plan. Focuses on academic essay writing, rhetorical analysis, and critical thinking. Examine thesis, types of evidence, and counterarguments as well as movements between concrete and abstract, personal and universal. Each quarter, the course will be organized around a different interdisciplinary theme.
