Mission Statement

The JFKU School of Management offers a humanistic, interdisciplinary, systems-based and socially responsible approach to leadership and entrepreneurship. Drawing upon the legacy of John F. Kennedy as relevant for the study of contemporary business and career development, and the exploration of legal studies, the School's educational philosophy promotes:

Humanistic values by respecting and building on the unique experiences, interests and needs of each student and the academic expertise, practitioner background and teaching passion of each faculty member. We believe that educational, professional and other socially constructed processes must value the human condition and uphold human dignity.

Interdisciplinary inquiry through the incorporation and fusion of perspectives from the social and applied sciences in creatively analyzing and resolving complex managerial, career and legal dilemmas. We believe that professional decisions and practices are enhanced substantially by posing challenging questions across disciplinary boundaries.

Systems-based thinking by fostering critical thinking processes that examine business operations, legal practices, and career development issues within the greater social, cultural, economic, technological and political-regulatory environment. We believe that a collaborative model of learning which stimulates discourse on timely issues best fosters this way of thinking.

Socially responsible behavior and courageous decision making through development of ethically defensible codes of conduct. We believe that professional visions, goals and strategies must ultimately be translated into socially, environmentally, and fiscally sustainable practices.
The School challenges students to pursue their educational goals in professionally rewarding and personally meaningful ways, and to utilize their education in making directed career transitions and difficult life choices.
