Michael Graney-Mulholland,DBA, professor, and chair of both the undergraduate and graduate business program, completed her doctorate in business at Golden Gate University in 2005. Her background has always been in business and education, both in the corporate and academic environment. She has over 30 years of business experience beginning with Pacific Bell and ending with Washington Mutual as the director of training for all of Card Services. She is native of the Bay Area with the majority of her time living in the city of Oakland. She teaches organizational behavior and business courses in both programs.
Since joining JFKU School of Management, her goals are to provide academic rigorous as well as practical application learning to the students. The curriculum provides the requirements for both the BSBA and MBA degree with an emphasis on social responsibility. All adjunct faculty hold a minimum of a Master's Degree in their field of study plus current work experience in there are of expertise. She has a special interest in Women's Studies. She published her dissertation on "Mature Professional Women's Effectiveness in the New Business Model." Her next research will study the differences between the younger generations of women in the workforce compared to the mature generation of working women.
Charles "Chuck" Piazza, PhD Cand. (Union Institute & University) is a published interdisciplinary organizational and workplace scholar and practitioner. As an associate professor who envisions the contemporary organization as an adaptive system of complex sociotechnical networks, he conducts graduate seminars for working professionals in strategic management, workforce issues, ethics, organizational innovation, alternative business models, and organizational communication and information systems. As a professional mentor, social philosopher, and ethicist, he focuses on developing visionary leaders with integrity and socially conscious organizational cultures that promote workplace environments and devise information and communication systems that create sustainable collaborative systems, foster work-life balance, and serve the common good of all stakeholders, including the civic and world communities in which an organization functions. He has taught professionals from all over the world, and many of the major corporations in the Bay Area, including Silicon Valley.
From 2000-2005 Chuck Piazza was the Associate Director of the Information Systems Programs at the University of San Francisco, and an adjunct instructor and organizational consultant from 1992-1999. His 30+ years of teaching at such universities and colleges as University of San Francisco, St. Mary's College of California, Dominican University of San Raphael, and John F. Kennedy University have garnered him much respect in his field, exemplified by being awarded Instructor of the Year twice in a four-year period. He is also the director of ISmentor Group, an emerging think tank dedicated to establishing partnerships that enable the fostering of innovative leadership with integrity and the development of sustainable information systems.
Adjunct Faculty
Shirley R. Bhatt, M.A., Adjunct Professor of Mathematics. University of Pittsburgh, B.S., 1956; M.A., 1959. Bhatt has several years of teaching experience at various levels. Bhatt has acquired a long list of achievements and awards, some of which include coauthoring a million dollar grant for school reform submitted by the Bay Area School Reform Collaborative and summer fellowships awarded by the Industry Initiative for Science and Math Education (IISME). Currently, Bhatt functions as the Mathematics Department chair at Concord High School in addition to her faculty position here at JFKU.
Bruce Barrie (MBA - JFK University, CFP Certification) - DrBruce is a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley where he markets and sells stocks and bonds under the NYSE and NASD. He is a Certified Financial Planner as well as a Commodity-Futures Trading Commission Series 31. He has been teaching business courses at JFKU since 2005.
Warren Brown (MBA - Cal State Long Beach) - Warren currently owns a Marketing Consultant business that specializes in consulting with start-up medical product companies funded by "angel investors." His company develops and moves the company to IPO status or the sale of the company. He has built a start-up medical laboratory up to 20 locations, serving 22 hospitals. He is an adjunct Marketing professor at four other area institutions.
Stewart Emery - Stuart is co-author of the best selling international bestseller, Built to Last. He has a lifetime of experience as an executive coach. He has appeared as a featured guest on television and radio talk show and has conducted coaching interviews with more than 12,000 people. He was recently given an Honorary Doctoral Degree from JFK University.
Denis Fama (MA - University of San Francisco) - Denis is a management consultant, trainer and teacher with more then twenty-five years experience in these fields. He consults with both for profit and non-profit organizations to assist in the planning human resource needs, train managers and employees and provide professional advice. His background is in health care administration. He is an adjunct faculty at two other universities and received his Master's degree in Non Profit Management at USF.
Dr. Vladimir Genin (PhD- Moscow University) - Dr. Genin has taught at Stanford and UC Los Angeles. He teaches for Capella University as well as JFKU. His area of specialty is marketing planning for new companies.
Morris Hamm, BBA University of Texas, JD South Texas College of Law. Certified Public Accountant. Morris has over thirty of experience in diversified positions in finance and legal matters. Experience in banking, real estate, health care, engineering, oil and gas and other industries. He is an adjunct faculty at two universities. His hobby is sports car racing, specifically SCCA where he officiates at weekend events across the country.
Olivia Herriford (Doctorate in Management) - Olivia's students know her as Dr. "O." Based on the prompting of her father, her undergraduate degree is in Engineering - a degree that opened up opportunities in the Information Technology field. However, when downsizing began, Olivia made the decision to broaden her experience and began her graduate work in management.
Olivia has worked in the field of organizational and leadership development, as a consultant and educator, since completing her doctoral study of organizational culture and emotional intelligence in 2002. As a consultant, she assists leaders and teams with developing change strategies and communications to support corporate initiatives, such as large-scale technology implementation, cultural transformation, and workforce diversity. She is adjunct faculty for two universities and a subject-matter expert for a leadership development institute, teaching courses in graduate business and management degree programs and leadership workshops for small and medium size business, respectively. Olivia has an extensive background in project management, strategic planning, and group facilitation. She is a certified mediator and regular volunteers on community conflict resolution panels.
Audrey Hinda, Ph.D., Organizational Leadershp, Regent University. Audrey recently retired from the Coast Guard and teaches organizational development classes at Union College. She has developed curriculum and teaching in areas of Human Resource Management; Organizational Behavior and Team Dynamics. She has presented two published papers on emotional intelligence and has published papers on the Coast Guard Transformational Leadership and a Case Study of The Berman Spill Response and other articles on the environmental issues of oil spills.
Marc Kolpin, Ph.D., Lecturer in Business. Swiss Institute of Technology, Zurich, M.A., 1957; Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Ph.D., 1962. Kolpin is a strategist with a diverse background as a scientist, entrepreneur and CEO working for such companies as TRW Systems, Physics International and as a member of the Flight Team of the Biking Mars Mission for NASA. In addition to his numerous accomplishments, he was a mentor of the start-up company that won first prize in the Goldman Sachs/Haas School of Business National Social Venture competition.
Patricia Muscatelli, MBA, U.C. Berkeley. After earning her Master Degree in Finance at UC Berkley, Patricia worked at a Wells Fargo Bank as Vice President of Finance and completing her career with them as Controller as the Agribusiness Division. She is currently CEO of her own company that provides consulting to small firms in the Bay Area and is an adjunct faculty at two other institutions. She has authored chapters on time value of money, bond and stock valuation, capital budging, evaluation of equity financing alternatives and long-term debt financing alternatives for a textbook used by National American University.
Dr. Diana Paque (DPA- University of Southern California) - Dr. Paque is the Provost for JFK University. She also teaches various strategic management courses.
Lass B. Ramarattan, Ph.D., New School University. He is an associate editor for The American Economist and has published over 50-refereed articles in economic journals. He has co-authored six books:

He has been teaching economics at JFK University since the early 1990s. He has interest in many areas of economics, including economic principles—macro and micro, money and banking, industrial organization, and mathematical economics. Currently, he is co-editing a series of scholarly Handbooks on Economics for Oxford University Press. Carol Robertson, Esq. (JD- UC Berkeley, ABD- UC Davis) - Prof. Robertson brings over 20 years of professional experience in the field of law. She has held Senior Counsel and Principle positions throughout her career. Her area of specialty is law and ethics.
Dr. Donna Schaeffer (PhD- Claremont) - Dr. Schaeffer is a Director as well as Associate Professor at University of San Francisco. Her areas of specialty are quantitative methods and international business.
Dr. Bev Scott (PhD- University of Michigan) - Dr. Scott works for the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at JFKU. Her area of specialty is organizational dynamics.
Dr. Shahbaz Shahbazzi (PhD- University of Texas) - Dr. Shahbazzi's areas of specialty are accounting and economics.
Frank Siegert (MBA- Loyola College, Baltimore, MD) - Prof. Siegert has over 30 years of sales experience and has worked with clients such as Dial Corporation and the Golden Valley Division of Con Agra, Nestle, and IBRC Beverages. His area of specialty is management communications.
Dan Thorsen (MA, Resource Economics - Washington State; MS, Business - Cal State University, Fresno) - Dan is currently a data consultant at Kaiser Permanente Medical Services Planning and Contracting. He provides cost and volume analysis, statistical trend forecasting throughout the Bay Area. He taught for five years as a full time faculty at Washington State University's Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics. He specializes in teaching statistics, economics, and research methods.
Jim Tomtania - Jim is in my fourth (4th) year of instruction at JFKU. Areas of specialty include: Problem Solving & Decision Making; International Markets Analysis; Topics in International Management/Business; Ecommerce in Business and Politics.
When he is not consulting, researching and teaching, he enjoys the arts (music and painting) and uses arts and technology to raise money for education and charitable events in West Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia. He play spiano for an afro-jazz band called InterTribe in his free time. He am also a rotarian and love volunteering through community organizations and my church.
Eduardo Torres (MA, Economics - San Francisco State University; BSBA, Economics - Saint Mary's College) - Ed is an Investment Counselor and has extensive experience in the financial industry. He has been an adjunct instructor since 1992 at a number of universities and community colleges in addition to a full time position at San Joaquin Delta College. He has published articles on economic trends and on international banking.
Charlene Tuckerson (MBA - JFK University; BA, Liberal Studies and English - Cal State University, Hayward) - She is an adjunct faculty member, as well as the Administrative Director and Faculty Coordinator for the School of Management at John F. Kennedy University. She is also a faculty member at two other universities and works as an Educational Specialist in English, Math and Communications at R.T. Fisher Educational Enterprises, Inc.
Sue Van Atta, Ph.D., Lecturer in Business. University of California, Berkeley, B.A., 1960; M.A., 1962; Ph.D., 1967. Van Atta has a long list of teaching experience including University of California, Berkeley, San Francisco State, San Jose State, University of Philippines and Holy Names College. She has taught several courses relating to the field of economics such as Principles of Economics (Macro & Micro), Money and Banking in Underdeveloped Countries, International Economics and Business and Government.
Kevin Young (MA Economics- Princeton University) - Prof. Young has 20+ years in economics experience. He has taught at Rutgers University and his area of specialty is economics.
Peter Young, Ph.D. - Peter is currently serving as a United States Fulbright Scholar. He has just returned to the Bay Area from his teaching assignment at Belarusian State University's School of Business and Management of Technology. He has been a teacher at a number of colleges across the country, including San Francisco State University's College of Extended Learning [CA], and UC Berkeley's Extension Program. He is an experienced journalist, educator, and digital media practitioner. Peter's research interests are in the areas of disaster/emergency planning, demography, cartography, and technology use in the classroom. Peter has published several peer-reviewed papers and written several articles. He is also the recipient of a US Congressional Graduate Research Fellowship in Demography, a US Nuclear Regulatory Faculty Research Fellowship in Quality Standards and Manufacturing, and a Rotary International Research Fellowship in Cartography.
