In the School of Holistic Studies at John F. Kennedy University we engage students in critical and creative inquiry that fosters self-awareness and wholeness of being. By linking the intellectual, aesthetic, spiritual, and cultural aspects of study, we challenge students to explore the deepest dimensions of personal identity, forming the foundation for meaningful and effective professional activity.
The pragmatic and visionary model used by the School of Holistic Studies is designed to help you learn how to learn, discover your life's work, build your repertoire of methodologies and techniques, and serve the greater good. Connecting your creative self-discovery to real-life issues is an essential part of holistic studies.
The School of Holistic Studies offers masters degree programs in
holistic health education,
counseling psychology,
transformative art,
studio art,
consciousness studies,
integral psychology and
integral theory. We also offer a BFA in studio art that combines development of skills with academic research, spiritual practice, ritual, and intensive self-inquiry. All programs seek to engage the body, mind, and spirit in the context of self, culture, and cosmos by employing whole-person perspectives. For example, our distinctive transpersonal, somatic, and holistic
counseling psychology programs incorporate spiritual principles and clinical skills, recognizing that therapists must be mentally, physically, and spiritually balanced before they can be beneficial practitioners within the community.
In the School of Holistic Studies you'll collaborate in the learning process with our faculty of
Scholar-Practitioners. Our Scholar-Practitioners will share with you their experience, pioneering ideas, and empathic insights into how your studies translate to the larger world. You'll gain practical knowledge through activities that link academic theory with classroom work, fieldwork at external sites, community arts programs, non-profit organizations, and our counseling center.
When you choose to pursue your professional education in the School of Holistic Studies at John F. Kennedy University, you'll become part of our diverse and inspired community. Students who undertake our programs speak of the life-changing nature of their education. They learn how to develop an all-sided body-mind capable of critical thinking, discerning with the heart, and consciously evaluating experience.
