| Theraplay (R) | ||||||||||||||||||||
Theraplay is a primarily non-verbal, relationship-based treatment, which provides an effective alternative to traditional play or talk therapy and supports the whole family by involving the parents whenever possible. It is a helpful tool when treating children with attachment issues or developmental delays, and offers another way to “break through” to kids who are oppositional or resistant to traditional play or talk therapy. In this course, participants will learn the basic tenets of this therapist-guided play therapy for children, with an emphasis on developing the four essential qualities found in healthy parent-child relationships and how, through joyful engagement, it can be used to enhance attachment, self-esteem and trust. This class can be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of our Expressive Arts certificate program. For information about this certificate programs, click here.
