This introductory course examines basic principles of holistic nutrition and the essential issues in the field of nutrition today. Participants will explore the effect that food has on health, disease prevention and recovery from illness and injury. A whole foods based model of eating will be introduced and important dietary issues will be discussed, such as the basics of macro and micronutrients, anti-oxidants and the effects of synthetic vs. organic foods.

Participants will learn how to evaluate diets for nutrient content and will discover the essential elements in a healthy diet and in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This course is designed to help healthcare professionals, nurses and therapists build the skills they need to support the improved health and vitality of themselves as well as their clients.

Instructor Biography

Linda Clark, MA, CNC, holds a Master's degree in holistic health education from JFK University and a nutrition consultant certification from Bauman College, where she is also certified as a nutrition instructor. Linda teaches graduate courses in holistic nutrition and functional endocrinology for the holistic health masters program at JFK University. She is also certified in Blood Chemistry Analysis, Functional Endocrinology and Functional Immunology with a specialty in autoimmune diseases through Apex Energetics. The owner of Universal Wellness Associates, a holistic nutrition and wellness practice located in Fair Oaks, California, Linda also teaches seminars in nutrition clinical management for health practitioners throughout the Western United States as an instructor for Apex Energetics.
