Course Description

In this difficult economy, clients are looking for therapists who accept insurance, and therapists are reconsidering their private-pay only practices, in an attempt to provide better service to those in need.

This course addresses what every therapist should know about insurance. Participants will learn the difference between EAP, HMO, EPO, PPS, and POS plans, how to fill out claim forms so they process quickly, and how to avoid costly mistakes many therapists make. The 12 crucial questions to ask when checking coverage will be identified, and criteria for Medical Necessity will be examined, so therapists can successfully advocate for their clients when more sessions are needed. Common misconceptions will be challenged and confidentiality concerns addressed. Participants will learn how to integrate insurance into their practice so they can make their services more accessible for clients of all socioeconomic backgrounds.
