Course Description

Effective clinicians must have good working knowledge of the issues surrounding substance abuse. They need to know how to take a thorough drug and alcohol history, how to conduct a biopsychosocial assessment, how to determine the stage of the problem and how to make an appropriate referral for treatment when the problem is outside of their scope of practice.

This self-paced online course provides an overview of substance abuse. Participants will explore assessment, treatment, relapse issues and prevention of future problems.

This course meets the pre-licensing requirements for psychologists, MFTs and LCSWs.
