The Sport Psychology Speaker Series at John F. Kennedy University provides an exciting opportunity to hear and learn from top Sport Psychology practitioners from all over the world.
Starting in Fall 2007, all Sport Psychology students are required to attend at least two presentations in the Speaker Series while they are in the program.

Mark Nesti, PhD (UK)
Using Existential Psychology to Guide Sport Psychology Practice
Dr. Nesti is a reader in sport psychology at York St. John University in England where he teaches on the MSc Sport Psychology Program and is Executive Director of The Center for the Study of Sport and Spirituality. He has been a BASES (British Association for Sport and Exercise Sciences) accredited since 1990 and has worked with sport performers across a range of sports and performance levels. For the past four years, Dr. Nesti has been the counseling sport psychology at a top English Premiership soccer team. He is the author of the book
Existential Psychology and Sport: Theory And Application published by Routledge.

Michael Forde, MSc (UK)
Michael is a personal and organizational consultant to several leading professional sports teams and individuals in the UK, including the Wigan Warriors Rugby League team and England Rugby Union, as well as athletes from professional cricket, PGA golf, and motor racing. He is in his sixth season as a full-time consultant with Bolton Wanderers Football Club (soccer) in the English Premier League, focusing on individual and organizational change. His academic background is in Sport Science (BSC) and Sport Psychology (MSc) with additional qualifications in Counseling.
Mike has presented at numerous conferences in the UK, Europe and the US. He has been a co-presenter with John Murtough at JFK University on the topic of "Reflections on providing full-time sport psychology support with two English Premier League Professional Soccer Clubs: Understanding the roles of the modern sport psychologist within the volatile world of professional team sports."
Zoe Knowles, MSc (UK)
Ms. Knowles is a senior lecturer in coaching science and sport psychology at Liverpool John Moores University in England teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is an accredited sport psychologist with the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) and on the British Olympic Association's (BOA) register of sport psychologists. She currently works with the Great Britain archery team and in GB modern pentathlon and Premier division soccer. Zoe also coaches at the elite level and works with two gymnasts within the GB Under 12's squad. Her PhD is exploring the psychological processes of reflection and the professional development, using reflective practice, in coach education.
She has written several peer reviewed articles on reflective practice for coach education publications and presented at many international conferences and workshops on this specialist topic. Reflective practice is now a compulsory component in BASES accreditation for sport psychologists and Zoe is an advisor for this process. She is a guest speaker for us on the topic of "Reflective Practice in Sport".
Paola Lausdei, PhD (Italy)
Dr. Lausdei is a Sport Psychologist who specializes in the enhancement and support of top-level athletes. Over her 10-year career, she has worked with athletes competing at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, the World Rowing Championships from 2001-03, and the Athens Olympic Games in 2004. In 2006, she taught "Seminar in Sport Psychology: Italian Methods" at JFK University.
Oscar Mangione, PhD (Argentina)
Dr. Mangione works in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he studied Medicine (UBA CB) and Psychology at Argentine University John F. Kennedy (AUJFK). He was Director of the Sport Psychology Masters program at AUJFK and head of the Department of Psychpathology at the Center of Psychomotricity of ISPSA. Dr. Mangione is the creator of many diagnostic tests for high competition plaeyrs. He worked for five years as the psychologist for the famous soccer team "Club Atletico Boca Juniors" and with many professional tennis players.
He has collaborated in many media publications/events for companies such as Fox Sports, TyC Sports, Noticias, Clarin, Pagina 12, and Ole. He wrote
Batistuta: A Winner that Built Himself, about the famous Argentinian soccer player. He presented "Mental Concentration in Sports: An Argentinian Perspective" at JFK University in June 2007.
John Murtough, MSc (UK)
John is currently the manager of the youth academy, a senior sport scientist and sport psychologist with Fulham Football Club (soccer) in the English Premier League, after a very successful seven years with Everton. He has an academic background in Coaching Science (BSc) and Sport Psychology (MSc) and additional qualifications in Counseling and has presented at numerous coaching and sport psychology conferences throughout Europe and the US. John has worked at all levels of player development from under 16 through to senior international first team players. He is a co-guest speaker (with Michael Forde) for us on the topic of "Reflections on providing full time sport psychology support with two English Premier League Professional Soccer Clubs: Understanding the roles of the modern sport psychologist within the volatile world of Professional Team Sports".
