About our Keynote Speaker:

Bob Ladouceur
Head Varsity Football Coach
De La Salle High School

In 29 years at De La Salle High School, Bob Ladouceur has established himself as one of the most successful high school coaches in the country. His 330-20-3 record includes 22 North Coast Section Championships, 12 California State Championships and the longest winning streak in the history of high school sports. Both USA Today and Fox Sports Net voted De La Salle the number one team in the nation on five different occasions with the Spartans finishing in the top 10 every year for the past 15 years.

Nationally recognized, Bob has been named National High School Coach of the Year by USA Today 5 times in the last 12 years. Nominated by former DLS player and NFL kicker Doug Brien '89, he was selected from a pool of 1,200 high school coaches from across the country to become the NFL's first National High School Coach of the Year in 1995. Bob received his most prestigious honor when he was inducted into the National Federation of State High School Associations Hall of Fame in 2001. In addition, he received an ESPY nomination for "Coach of the Year" from ESPN in 2004 alongside top NFL, NBA and MLB coaches.

Under Bob's leadership, De La Salle has held a 44, 34 and 151 consecutive game winning streak—the latter being a national record that brought widespread recognition to northern California football. Bob has coached more than 75 athletes that have gone on to receive athletic scholarships at top universities and colleges across the country with many continuing on to professional careers in the National Football League (NFL) including: Doug Brien '89 (New York Jets, Cal), Aaron Taylor '90 (San Diego Chargers, University of Notre Dame), Amani Toomer '92 (NY Giants, Michigan), Dave Loverne '94 (Detroit Lions, San Jose State), Demetrius Williams '01 (Baltimore Ravens, Oregon) and Maurice Jones-Drew '03 (Jacksonville Jaguars, UCLA).

Bob's coaching philosophy and styles are practical and down to earth. He is a strong believer in and stresses the values of superior physical conditioning, mastery of the basic football techniques, total commitment to team success and the importance of being able to translate football experiences into daily life experiences. Bob's ability to teach sound fundamental football techniques is evidenced by the fact that his teams, although frequently outsized, consistently outperform the opposition.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Bob also serves as a full-time instructor of religious studies and physical education at De La Salle. In 1998, Bob was awarded the Warren Ukel Educator of the Year Award for Contra Costa County.
