Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) Program

The JFK University PsyD program is offered in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology's Pleasant Hill campus and is designed for individuals seeking the highest level of training to become hands-on practitioners in the field of psychology.

Our mission is to create a program with a diverse faculty, student body, and curriculum that focuses on training practitioner-scholars who will provide comprehensive and culturally sensitive services to a variety of communities.

Priority Deadline for Fall 2010 PsyD Applications: December 7, 2009. Applications will be accepted through January 12, 2010.

Our program provides clinical training with a multicultural emphasis by a diverse, dedicated faculty of experienced practitioners and scholars. Students engage in practical applications, advanced clinical training and specialized fieldwork throughout the program. Ultimately, graduates receive preparation for multiple roles: clinician, assessor, program administrator and evaluator, consultant, educator, supervisor and critical analyst of psychological research that contemporary psychologists must fill to serve their communities.

Our program welcomes students who demonstrate a strong commitment to working with underprivileged and underserved populations. We create an environment where people of varied backgrounds and beliefs can all feel welcome women and men; students of color; gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students; and individuals with visible and non-visible disabilities.

Integrated Professional Seminars (IPS)
These seminars are a key component of the PsyD program, combining coursework and practicum throughout the student's experience, focusing on working with diverse populations, group process and group supervision. Cohesive groups with up to 10 students and a professor meet together over three consecutive quarters each year. The setting is a supportive one in which students integrate readings and didactice material while sharing their practica experience.

Faculty
Core and adjunct faculty members of the PsyD program work in the community - administering clinics or programs, maintaining private practices, consulting, or serving in various other community settings. They bring their passion and commitment into the classroom and provide students with real life examples of the various roles available to them as future practitioners.
