John F. Kennedy University now offers its successful Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology Program in the Santa Cruz-Central Coast community.

Features of the two-year Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology Program:

  • Field placements that provide more hands-on training hours than other MA Counseling Psychology programs and let you complete your practicum requirement for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist more quickly

  • Specialized curriculum for training culturally competent mental health professionals to work with Latino/Hispanic and other communities.

Program Overview

Classes are held for five, 9-week terms. During the first year, three classes per term are held on one weekday evening and one weekend day. During the second year, students take one class during each of the five terms and complete 14 months of supervised, practicum training at a JFKU-approved field-placement site. Additional workshops and electives will be provided as necessary to meet all Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) workshop requirements for MFT licensure.

This specialized MA in Counseling Psychology Program in Santa Cruz accepts 20 students each fall.
