We are small, a high touch program with a focus on social equity, innovative approaches and progressive ideals. We also take a practical approach to implementing our philosophy. Our faculty, alumni and students have a strong track record of implementation and success. Our faculty are experienced practitioners of leading edge discourse and practice in the museum field.
Why are you located in Berkeley?
The Museum Studies offices, classrooms and library are housed in an historic warehouse in Berkeley. Our location provides easy access to Bay Area museums and cultural attractions. In Berkeley we have fabulous restaurants, great weather and ample free parking.
What is the difference between a Master's Degree and a Certificate?
JFK University offers both a Master of Arts in Museum Studies and a Certificate. The Certificate requires less course work and no Master's project.
Where and how do I fulfill my internship requirements?
Internships are tailored to meet the needs and interests of each student. Some are paid and some are unpaid. To gain the broadest experience, most students complete an internship in more than one institution. Museum Studies faculty assists students in finding the best internship placement for their personal and professional goals.
When do students do the internships?
Most students do their internships in the summer.
How long will it take me to earn my degree?
Most students complete a Certificate in one year and a Master's degree in two, if they attend full time. If they attend part-time, they have up to five years to complete either degree.

We are proud of our over-300 alumni who have successful careers in a variety of settings. They play important roles in institutions that are large and small, traditional and innovative.
