Three Stone Hearth
Three Stone Hearth is a community kitchen that prepares food following the Westin Prince, D.D.S., guidelines for nutrition. Students worked both in food preparation and packaging as well as business administration. Food preparation included menu planning, learning how to operate commercial kitchen equipment, how to properly wash and prepare different types of food, knife skills and safety, and cooking techniques.

Jennie worked for Stanford University Department of Athletics, applying her HHE knowledge to help enhance the performance of world-class athletes.

Njoroge Carver Tho-Biaz African-American Coalition
Njoroge interned at the African-American Coalition for Health Improvement and Empowerment of the Black Coalition in AIDS, Health and Wellness Network. In his internship, Njoroge learned how to facilitate seminars and workshops in self-care, assisted in planning trainings, redesigned a training model for young people, and assessed ethnocentric-specific individual and community needs for health education in the African-American community.

The Body Positive
The Body Positive is an organization dedicated to developing educational materials and programs on body image grounded in the Health At Every Size (HAES) model. In her internship, Fall assisted with revision of curricula for girls and teens, assisted with development of curricula for adults, and the revision of a book (Body Aloud!) for its second edition. At the Body Positive Sadie designed, promoted and offered a weekend retreat. In her internship, Jaime researched current trends related to eating disorders and college students and developed curricula for an HAES course for nurses.

Rachel Cole Center for Urban Education The Center for Urban Education is dedicated to supporting school-based research and reform efforts that focus on the problems and issues confronting urban schools. Rachel assisted the Director of Education of the Center in planning, designing, researching, promoting, coordinating, and leading a range of educational events and campaigns about sustainable agriculture.

Cari Cowdry San Domenico School Garden
The San Domenico School Garden is a sacred place and learning center for San Domenico students and faculty, and has now expanded to become a model for the greater community. Cari developed curricula and assisted with the work of the organic school garden.

Mind Body Medicine Research Group
Mary and Nina interned at The Mind Body Medicine Research Group at California Pacific Medical Center working on the Spiritual Engagement Project. The purpose of the project was to find out more about the ways that involvement in a spiritual practices and community influences one's life and well-being. Nina and Mary worked on subject recruitment, study development, data analysis, and project coordination.

Lisa Denney Moraga Gardens
Moraga Gardens is a Bay Area community garden which practices "the principle of abundance" by selling their produce to restaurants, donating it to the needy, and giving it to the volunteers who work the fields. Lisa helped with their community garden and explored the use of such gardens in health education.

Sandra Fewell Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College
The Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College (AIMC) provides extensive clinical training in traditional Chinese medicine, integrative medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, and Japanese needling technique. At AIMC, Sandra researched the feasibility of creating a Corporate Wellness program. She conducted a needs assessment, feasibility study, business plan, project plan, and implementation strategy.

Michai Freeman Alameda County Developmental Disabilities Council
The mission of the Alameda County Developmental Disabilities Council is to advocate for the rights of people with developmental disabilities to be assisted in the fullest development of their mental, physical, and spiritual potentials, and the right to community living in the least restrictive environment. Michai worked with the Council to implement a Diabetes Prevention and Nutritional Education program.

Jennifer conducted research with companies to see how many had implemented employee wellness and people development programs.

Linda Hickman Hill Physicians Group
Linda worked at Hill Physicians Group, helping develop and test a wellness coaching project for them.

Kaiser Hospice
Linda also interned at Kaiser Hospice as a co-facilitator of bereavement groups and helped developed curricula.

Mark Hiddleson Napa Adventure Boot Camp
Napa Adventure Boot Camp is an organization focused on creating better health through exercise and proper nutrition. Mark's main responsibility was to create and teach a one-hour nutrition seminar for the camp.

Jerris Hogue Linda Clark, MA - Nutritionist
Jerris assisted professional nutrition consultant Linda Clark with her nutrition clinic. He sat in on individual consultations and assisted in providing support and advice to clients.

Kelsy Krikava International Broadcasting Company
Kelsy began her media and health career by exploring how she would set up her own health channel—working for IBC TV International Broadcasting Company.

Lindsey Lustig Channel 6 Studio
Lindsey worked on a cooking show for children through Channel 6 Studio.

Michelle Ninde Blossom Birth
Blossom Birth is a non-profit education and resource center that provides parents and birth professionals with a holistic, non-judgmental view of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting. At Blossom Birth, Michelle learned to develop grants, conduct assessments, manage projects, and coordinated a fund-raising project.

Wendy Campbell Parco Life-Skills Curriculum
Wendy conducted research and created a prototype module of a life-skills curriculum for promoting adolescent mental and emotional health and well-being for a humanitarian who was interested in beginning an international project.

Michael Rosenthal Serenity Wellness Center
Serenity Wellness Center offers professional cleansing protocols provided by naturopathic doctors, alternative health practitioners, and nutritionists. Michael learned about the business side of providing healing and also investigated how the work of Wilhelm Reich can be applied to healing.

Kate Sadowsky Breast Health Project
The Breast Health Project is dedicated to educating women in practical holistic techniques that can be used to increase their breast health, changing attitudes from fear to knowledge and empowerment. Kate assisted with marketing, editing materials, producing the newsletter, and coordinating a workshop and support network for breast health educators.

Bridget Sheehy Luna Kids Dance Company
Luna Kids is a non-profit organization that teaches dance as a healing modality to low income families in Child Development Centers and public schools. Bridget attended entry level workshops, explored teaching and how to use movement in working with emotional health, stress management, and wellness education. She also helped develop curricula, worked at professional development conferences, and performed administrative tasks.

Theresa Singleton Voice Flame Writers
Theresa helped faculty member Mary Tuchscherer with her organization Voice Flame Writers, a project which uses writing as a self-exploration tool which can open and heal the heart, liberate our unique voice, awaken our creativity and celebrate the wisdom of our life experience. Theresa worked with Mary on her project in Malawi, Africa which provides a series of Legacy and story writing workshops for women.

Vanessa created an online networking and resource community for HHE students and alumni.

Lori Steeves Spirituality and Health
Lori worked with HHE Program Director, Michele Chase, to create a syllabus and materials for a course on spirituality and health that will eventually be offered in the HHE program.

Jessica Weiswasser Girls, Inc.
Girls, Inc is a national nonprofit youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls, particularly those in high-risk, underserved areas, to be strong, smart, and bold. Girls, Inc. programs help girls confront subtle societal messages about their value and potential, and prepare them to lead successful, independent, and fulfilling lives. Jessica interned with teens who are peer educators and mentors; she organized a health fair, and helped with a National Women's Day event.

Heather Ybaban Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is a leader in research leading to a cure for type 1 diabetes. It sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. Heather designed educational materials for parents and children living with Type 1 diabetes.

Michelle Young-Long AsOne Coaching Institute
The AsOne Coaching Institute, founded by faculty member Linda Bark, is an innovative learning organization that is based on the emerging holistic and integral perspectives. AsOne provides creative and evidence based coaching education for health professionals. Michelle worked as an overall assistant at AsOne, putting together their website and learning the skills of Integral Health Coaching.
