The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program prepares individuals to be managers in business, government and nonprofit organizations. Through personalized academic advising and small specialized classes, the program gives students a relevant education that integrates management theory with realistic goals and practices.
The program provides a sound foundation in the basic management functions of planning, leading, organizing, controlling and decision making. Students are also given the qualitative and quantitative tools required to identify, analyze and solve today's complex business problems. Additional coursework expands the student's understanding of an organization's social, economic, legal, political and technical environment. Finally, the program helps create the basis for the student's continuing self-directed education and professional growth.
The BSBA program requires a 15 unit specialization. The specialization in Strategic Management is currently offered to students. This specialization prepares students to lead change in an organization and allows students the flexibility to select courses that match their personal and professional objectives.
Special courses are offered periodically to keep the program update with new developments and trends in the business world. Recent courses include:
New Ventures: Market Planning - highlights the skills, behaviors and business intelligence required for creating and growing new ventures. Topics include: evaluating market opportunities, designing development and growth strategies, assessing barriers to market entry and exit, building the management team, and incorporating new venture financing.
Financing New Ventures - examines the concepts and institutions involved in entrepreneurial finance and private equity markets. Topics include valuation, "guerrilla" financing, joint ventures and alliances, private placements and IPOs.
The BSBA Program also provides solid preparation for graduate work in the business field. John F. Kennedy University offers students a unique opportunity to link their BS with an MBA, saving students both time and money.
