Human Resources

The broad designation of human resources covers a range of specialties, services, and skills that address the needs of employees (the human capital) of a business, industry, workplace, or organization.

In the past, human resource professionals often performed administrative functions related to handling questions about employee benefits or recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new staff that met the policies and requirements established in conjunction with top management.

Today, human resources professionals continue to administer those functions as they also consult with top executives regarding strategic planning for their organizations and taking on leadership roles in suggesting and changing policies that affect the workers who make a significant contribution to the success of any business.

Human resources professionals are increasingly part of senior management teams that create and implement policies to enhance morale and productivity, limit job turnover, help increase performance and improve business results, make effective use of employee skills, provide training and development opportunities to improve those skills, and seek to increase employees’ satisfaction with their jobs and working conditions.

JFK University offers several programs, courses, and certificates that apply to the field of human resources.

In the School of Management (SOM), you can explore options in business administration, including specializations in e-commerce, project management, leadership, and strategic management, with the perspective of social responsibility and sustainability. Our MA in Career Development combines career theory, management techniques, humanistic psychology, and practical skills.

JFKU’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) recognizes the value of people skills in successful change management within organizations.
