Holistic Studies

Holistic studies is a field of inquiry that links person, spirit, and culture to inspire self-awareness, wholeness of being, and understanding that the deepest dimensions of personal identity form the essential foundation for meaningful and effective professional activity.

In The Holistic Curriculum, Dr. John P. Miller states, “A holistic education emphasizes relationships between thinking and intuition, mind and body, individual and community, personal self and higher self (the spiritual dimension of experience). Holistic education seeks transformation, that is, the continuing growth of the person and society.”

JFKU’s School of Holistic Studies (SHS) offers innovative degree programs that encourage the pursuit of higher consciousness in the context of a global culture and a sustainable environment. The holistic values of inter-connectedness, compassion, diversity, imagination, and community service, including a scholarly and experiential approach to integration of body, mind, spirit, environment, and culture, form the basis of our professional programs. Academic degrees through the school are offered in consciousness and transformative studies, integral psychology, holistic health education, transformative arts, studio arts, and counseling psychology.
