Sport Psychologist

Sport performance psychologists are trained professionals who assist athletes in improving performance through knowledge of sport and exercise psychology, sport physiology, kinesiology, and nutrition.

At JFK University, the MA in Sport Psychology program through the Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) offers a certificate in exercise and sport performance for psychologists, marriage and family therapists, sport psychologists, and sport psychology consultants interested in applying for certification through the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP). GSPP’s Sport Psychology program expands understanding of sport physiology and encompasses the psychology of injury/sport medicine, motor learning and performance, mental skills training, kinesiology, exercise psychology, sport and exercise nutrition, and includes a sport psychology practicum.
