Local governments employ city administrators to help establish and implement policies, rules, regulations, and laws that contribute to the well being of citizens. City administrators are the professional business managers of these governmental entities.
Just as they would if they led a for-profit business, city administrators may be involved in overseeing urban or regional planning efforts, finances and investments, daily operations, labor and human resource issues, law enforcement, public transit, and a range of social and community services.
