Attorney

Attorneys, also known as lawyers, act as both advocates and advisors. Because we live in a society governed by laws, attorneys hold positions of great responsibility and are obligated to follow a strict code of ethics.

As advocates, attorneys represent one of the parties in civil or criminal trials by presenting evidence and arguing in court. As advisors, they counsel clients about legal rights and obligations and suggest courses of action in business or personal matters.

All attorneys research the intent of laws and judicial decisions and apply the law to the specific circumstances faced by their clients.

At JFK University, the School of Law (SOL) provides world-class faculty, exceptional support, and practical experience within supportive, not competitive, programs that prepare you to pass the bar exam to become a practicing attorney, while maintaining family, work, or other responsibilities. Our curriculum emphasizes analytical and advocacy skills with a focus on the law in its wider political, social, and economic contexts. We believe the law can be a tool for social change, and we encourage you to examine and share your individual experiences to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of social justice.
