The JFKU Elder Law Clinic, opened in 2005, provides free legal assistance to elders (age 60 and above) who have been financially abused or exploited and who are of low- to moderate-income and live in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano counties. The Clinic also offers public presentations that can help you or your loved ones recognize and prevent potential elder financial abuses.
The Clinic is staffed by students from the JFKU
School of Law under the supervision of the Clinic's director. We interview potential clients to determine if Clinic representation is appropriate.
Resolution of your matter may require phone calls, letters, and negotiation, or complex, long-term activity, such as filing a formal legal action on the case. If the Clinic cannot handle the matter, our legal representatives locate the appropriate agency or lawyer for the case, who then follows your matter through to its resolution.
