Eating Disorders

All Continuing Education Certificate courses may be taken as either certificate courses or as stand-alone Continuing Education courses.

In the last decade, the occurrence of eating disorders has increased at an alarming rate. Subclinical problems such as chronic dieting, obsessive exercise, weight preoccupation and body image disturbance are also now a concern in treatment. The Eating Disorders Certificate is designed to provide licensed practitioners with the knowledge and skills to effectively treat individuals who struggle with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and other eating problems. Participants take courses that cover assessment, diagnosis and treatment from both a historical and current perspective. The certificate program includes exposure to a wide range of theoretical orientations and offers electives that address specific symptoms, different modalities of treatment, various populations and the application of theory to practice.
