Symposium: East Asian Influences in Contemporary Art

The Balancing Perspectives Symposium on Saturday, November 8, will offer presentations and discussion on the influences of East Asian art, culture, and philosophy on the contemporary art world. Artists and scholars will examine crucial issues that underscore a major foundation of the present multicultural world art scene.

Speakers will include:

Jacquelynn Baas - Art Scholar and Emeritus Director of the University of California Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.
Mark Levy - Scholar, Art Historian and Senior Professor of Art History at California State University of the East Bay.
Fred Martin - Artist and former Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs at San Francisco Art Institute.
William T. Wiley - Renowned artist and winner of the Purchase Prize from the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1968, a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2004, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southern Graphics Art Council in 2005.
Kaleo Ching - Author, Artist, and Qigong Master; and Elise Dirlam Ching, Poet and Healer.
