Volunteer Opportunities

The more our alumni stay connected and become involved as volunteers at the University, the stronger our bonds in the community. Your presence on our campuses over the years has enriched our institution and has enabled JFKU to fulfill its educational mission. We are proud of all of you, and as an education community, are interested in your continued involvement with our school.

  1. Take the time to stay in touch by letting us know your current contact information in our alumni database. Send us an email at jfkualumni@jfku.edu with your whereabouts. Updating records and contact information can be tedious, but the only way we can stay connected is if we have current email, address and phone information. We are grateful for your efforts and involvement. (Email is particularly important since our quarterly alumni newsletter is distributed electronically.)

  2. Join our Alumni Council and represent your school and/or program. We are a fabulous group of graduates who meet monthly to assist the University with further developing a variety of venues: communications & marketing, career networking, alumni benefits, alumni/student social events, etc. Come by the President's Conference Room on the third floor of our Pleasant Hill campus on the fourth Wednesday of each month. We meet from 6:30 until 8 pm. For more information, contact Alumni Council President, Doug Balderston '73 at DougBldr@concentric.net.

  3. Our Alumni Network needs alumni who are willing to talk with (or have an email conversation with) prospective students! People who are interested in coming to JFKU are interested in talking with graduates from our programs, to see what the experience is really like and to hear first hand about your JFKU education. Click on the link for Alumni Network, fill out the one-page questionnaire, and FAX it to (925) 969-3309. An admissions counselor will match you with a prospective student. It's that easy, and it's that important!

  4. Volunteer to be a speaker at one of our Open Houses! Contact your school directly and let them know that you would be available to talk about the JFKU experience at a future Open House for prospective students.

  5. A myriad of other ways exist for your volunteer time... alumni phonathons, alumni mixers, Alumni Day, Alumni of the Year luncheon, Career Center events just to name a few. To explore ways to become involved, contact Anne Marie Taylor at amtaylor@jfku.edu. We'd love to match your interest with University programs that need alumni power!
