Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)

Program Application Deadline is: January 2nd for Fall 2008.

Late applications will be considered on a space available basis. The department prefers that all required supporting documentation also be submitted by the deadline.

  • Program Application Forms

  • Nonrefundable application fee. The nonrefundable application fee must accompany the Application Form. Please make checks payable to John F. Kennedy University.

      Doctorate of Psychology: $80

  • Two sets of official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (this includes schools attended that did not result in a degree, such as a community college). Transcripts not sent directly to the Admissions Office from the issuing institution must remain sealed to be considered official. Transcripts then become the property of the university and will not be returned or released to another party.

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. The awarding of the degree must be indicated on an official transcript.

    Applicants must show a broad distribution of challenging courses with an overall GPA of 3.0.

  • Supplemental Information Form. Applicants should submit the Doctor of Psychology Program Supplemental Information Form with the application.

  • Personal Statement. The statement, no longer than four double-spaced, typewritten pages. The statement should reflect the applicant's interest in the field of psychology and rationale for applying to this program. Please include your name on your statement and submit in duplicate.

  • Resume/Vitae. Submit in duplicate.

  • Sample Academic Paper. Applicants must submit a recent and representative sample of academic writing. The sample should be no longer than 10 pages and should show the applicant's name. Please include your name on your paper and submit in duplicate.

    Note: Applicants who do not have a recent sample of academic writing may submit either (1) a five-page research paper on a topic of their choice, or (2) a sample of a professional writing product authored solely by them, which showcases their writing ability (i.e. a client case report). Jointly authored publications will not be accepted. The document submitted is subject to department approval.

  • Letters of Recommendation. Three letters of recommendation that attest to the applicant's suitability for a Doctor of Psychology program are required. Include two from former or current instructors.

  • Personal Interview. Applications will be evaluated by the program admissions committee. Applicants deemed most appropriate for admission will be contacted by the department to schedule a personal interview.

Note: The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required for admission; however, the PsyD Program encourages applicants to take the exams and have the score sent to the Admissions and Records Office. Our School Code is 4365.
