JFK University touches the Bay Area community and beyond. In keeping with our mission, we are recognized as a
California Green Business, doing our part to protect the environment by recycling, preventing pollution, and conserving water, energy, and other materials.
Our Graduate School of Professional Psychology provides
Community Counseling Centers to serve area residents from locations in Pleasant Hill and Sunnyvale. The
Center for Holistic Counseling, operated by the School of Holistic Studies, is located in Oakland.
The
Career Development Center on our Pleasant Hill campus is a resource not only for university students, staff, and alumni, but also for the public.
JFKU students also volunteer their time and effort to support such community programs as the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
JFK University collaborates with external partners across the spectrum to sponsor events such as the California Association of Museums Conference; travel/study courses to Malawi, Africa, and other national and international sites; a holistic arts education conference; interdisciplinary research as part of the Educational Social Initiative; ways to create a culture of collaboration in a city government; and a daylong Taking Care of Business workshop for people interested in starting and/or maintaining home-based or small businesses.
The
Elder Law Clinic, part of JFKU's School of Law, recently received a grant from the Foundation of the State Bar of California to continue serving area low-income seniors in dealing with instances of financial abuse or exploitation.
Public workshops, conferences, and symposia sponsored by the five schools of JFK University—along with the presence of our faculty at professional events, councils, and associations—extends the influence and impact of the University into the local community, across the nation, and around the world.
