Born and raised in Oakland, California, Paul Valva attended the University of California Berkeley, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics, and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, he completed a second master’s degree in strategic leadership towards sustainability at the Blekinge Institute of Technology located in Sweden. For the past 30 years, Paul has been a commercial and residential real-estate agent. As a volunteer, Paul trained with Al Gore to teach the public about climate change, and now serves on the Advisory Board for Paul Hawken’s Project Drawdown, focusing on finding technical solutions to the world’s most challenging ecological problems. Paul has served on finance, development, and strategic planning committees, and is currently a member of the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy advisory council at JFK University.
