Expressive Arts Certificate

All Continuing Education Certificate courses may be taken as either certificate courses or as stand-alone Continuing Education courses.

Our 60-hour expressive arts certificate was designed for practicing therapists, mental health professionals, organizational consultants, ministers and educators who wish to integrate the creative process and the techniques of expressive arts therapy into their work. Expressive arts therapy includes the use of one or more art forms - visual arts, dance, movement, drama, music and poetry - to facilitate self-expression, personal growth, therapeutic change, group process, team building and problem solving. The expressive arts certificate may be used to enhance a clinical practice, expand competence with a variety of art modalities, explore therapeutic interventions and/or enliven work in the classroom.

Certificate Requirements: A total of 60 hours is required. This includes one core course (10 hours) and 50 hours of electives

Core Course

Introduction to Expressive Arts Therapy
OR
Introduction to Expressive Arts Therapy: A Post-Jungian Approach

My training in Expressive Art Therapy has proven to be an invaluable alternative for self-understanding and personal expression for the adolescents I work with, many of whom have had more than their fair share of talk therapy. The ultimate endorsement for extended study in Expressive Arts is the positive impact it has had on the people I work with. I can point to several cases where an expressive art intervention was the pivotal experience that led to successful outcomes.”
- David Benoit, MFT
