XPE3008 Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Guide for Parents of Preschool to Elementary Age Children

Course Description

Over the past decade, Autism Spectrum Disorders have been diagnosed with increasing frequency. Research shows that with early intervention, long term outcomes can be improved.

This course provides an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Parents will learn the common warning signs, when and where to seek an evaluation for their child, what the most effective treatments are and where to go to get them. Parents will also learn ways to manage the stress that comes with caring for a child with special needs. Community resources will be provided. Lunch is included.
