Explore some of the latest neuroscientific findings on the effects of meditation on the mind and body, and learn different mindfulness techniques to use in clinical practice. New research confirms that simple mindfulness practices have significant health benefits ranging from heart health and stress reduction, to relief for depression and symptoms of PTSD. The class will explore the framework of "principles of contemplative science", an area of study that values the active introspection for mental health. The cultivation of happiness and psychological health through regular mindfulness practice will be introduced. This class is taught from the Vajrayana tradition.
