Eric B Vogel worked in television production, prior to entering graduate school. He began teaching at JFKU in 2002 as an adjunct professor in the PsyD program and the MA counseling program, and also taught as an adjunct at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). In 2004 he joined the core faculty of the PsyD program at JFKU. In 2009, he won the Eugene Benjamin Sagan memorial award for outstanding teaching in psychology.His research and scholarly interests include cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, psychotherapeutic game development, East Asian and South Asian psychology, and philosophical psychology. His best known published work is: Land of Psymon: A Cognitive Psychotherapy Game (Western Psychological Services).
Outside the field of psychology, Dr. Vogel has had work published in literary journals such as Stand, The Antigonish Review and Sanskrit. His sideline is designing board games, and his published games include: Cambria (Sandstorm LLC), Hibernia (Sandstorm LLC) and Armorica (Vainglorious Games).
