Course Description

This course is an introduction to neuropsychology.  Neuropsychological assessment is a powerful tool used by both clinical and experimental psychologists to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals with various brain disorders.  Neuropsychology focuses on identifying the behavioral deficits that arise from brain pathology.  This pathology includes diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's as well as other brain related conditions such as stroke, tumors, and head injury.  Through this course students will learn about the history of neuropsychology, details of brain anatony, various neuropsychological assessments, and the examination of behavioral deficits and neuropsychological profiles associated with a variety of brain disorders and brain conditions.
