HSC4325 Biodemography of Human Aging

Course Description

This course is designed to examine the aging processes seen during both normal and diseased aging and to explore the meaning of aging from a holistic perspective examining meaning within multicultural perspectives.  Students apply an integral approach to understanding aging and to addressing the cultural perspectives and challenges associated with aging in the discovery of new possibilities.  This appraoch fosters an understanding of the holistic, person-centered and dynamic process of health and wellness during the aging process.  The implications of aging are considered within the context of a society that is experiencing significant demographic and socioeconomic shifts.
