HSC3100 Introduction to Living Systems

Course Description

The basic concepts of systems theory as they relate to life processes are explored including both the dynamics and the levels of complexity in natural and artificial systems and the interdependence of microscopic and macroscopic orders.  Special emphasis is given to consciousness, self-replication, and self-regulation via feedback that introduces concepts such as Autopoiesis and bifurcation points.  May be applied toward the lower-division general-education science breadth requirements.
