Dr. Sean FitzpatrickAssistant Professor College of Psychology and Holistic Studies
Dr. Sean Fitzpatrick started at John F. Kennedy University in 2012. He is the Research Coordinator for the Sport Psychology program. In this role he oversees students’ thesis projects as well as students’ applied projects. Sean has taught a number of courses at JFK University, including, Exercise Psychology; Health Psychology; Research Methods; Comprehensive Exploration of Diversity in Sport; and Case Class, the program’s Group Supervision course. Sean is currently the chair of the University’s Program Review Council and sits on a number of other committees.
Sean is a member of the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) and is part of its Health and Exercise Committee. Sean is also a member of the Internal Society of Sport Psychology, the American Psychological Association (APA), as well as APA’s Division 47, Exercise and Sport Psychology. Sean’s research interests include applied Exercise Psychology, specifically the promotion of physical activity among cancer survivors, as well as training issues in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
Sean has presented his work at conferences domestically and abroad and has published articles in the Journal of Obesity, Heath Promotion Practice, and the Journal of Mixed Methods. Sean has worked with a diverse range of athletes and exercisers and is an AASP Certified Consultant as well as member of the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry.
In his spare time Sean enjoys traveling, being a novice surfer, and pretending to be a chef. He is originally from South Bend, IN.
