Margaret ToewsAssociate Faculty College of Psychology and Holistic Studies
Margaret Toews, MA, MFT, is an adjunct faculty member in JFK University's College of Graduate and Professional Studies, San Jose Campus, teaching the Group Process class since 2004. She is a Certified Process Therapist in private practice and a Certified Process Therapy Instructor. She was trained at the Process Therapy Institute in Los Gatos, where she now supervises interns and trainees.
Her fascination with groups grew while participating in a psychodrama group for six years and continued with extensive training in group therapy at the Berkeley Group Therapy Education Foundation and the Process Therapy Institute. In her private practice, she utilizes a multi-modal approach, including the trauma model, somatic focusing, and cognitive and attachment theory among others.
As a teacher, she utilizes what arises in the class as a learning lab for students to experience both traditional approaches to group therapy and an integrative, process oriented approach which includes the transpersonal and somatic realms as sources of information. She believes this experiential and integrative approach contributes profoundly to learning and to shifts in perspective.
